2011-2012
Hello and Welcome! My name is Kristina Losey and I am honored be to be a teacher in the 4th/5th grade loop at CSD.
A Cincinnati girl, I grew up cheering on the Big Red Machine (Go Reds!). I graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1990 with a degree in Elementary Education and I also enjoyed playing soccer for the Bearcats. I have always loves sports and the outdoors so throughout my college years and early teaching years, I spent my summers working at summer camps, first in Rockhill, NY and then in Estes Park, Colorado.
After teaching 2nd grade in Cincinnati, I moved to Colorado and taught grades K-5 in Denver Public Schools including 7 years as a math specialist. During that time, I earned a masters degree in Literacy (K-12) from the University of Colorado, Boulder. I also met and married my husband, Allen! We moved to NC in 2000 and have been blessed with three beautiful girls: Jessica, Erica, and Amanda. After staying home for a couple of years, I taught kindergarten at Cannon School in Concord. Then, in 2005, my husband and I opened Mathnasium of Concord, A Learning Center, where I tutored children grades k-12 in mathematics. During this time, I also home schooled my children.
In 2007, I began teaching in the literacy lab at CSD and I quickly realized what a special school CSD is! In the summer of 2009, I joined the 2nd/3rd grade team! I have never felt as empowered to teach children the way I am empowered to teach at CSD. Everyone at CSD is dedicated to helping each child grow academically and socially and to instill a desire in each child to become a life long learner and positive citizen while pursuing his/her dreams. I truly love coming to school each day and being a part of this incredible community!
