Hi! I am Libby Christian and welcome to the second and third grade loop at CSD. I have been teaching for 22 plus years in a variety of positions.  I spent the first half of my career teaching kindergarten in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School system.  When Joy opened Children’s Community School as a private school, I came on board as the Art and Physical Education teacher for that first kindergarten class.  I continued in that role until we made the transition to becoming a Charter School.  After our move into our current facility, I continued to be the physical education teacher for two more years before moving back into the classroom.  I am a graduate of Appalachian State University. I have served as a mentor to new teachers and as a cooperating teacher to 6 student teachers from UNC-Charlotte. I have been happily married to my husband Jim for 23 years and together we have three amazing children; Harrison (20) who is a junior at UNC-Charlotte, Grant (16) - grade 10, and Abigail (12) – grade 7, both attend CSD.   I believe that learning should be fun and meaningful; therefore, I try to plan everything that I teach in that vein.  Singing, dancing, cooking, painting and creating are cornerstones to learning in my classroom and are incorporated into all of the learning areas.  I feel so honored to be a teacher at CSD and can truly say that I get to go to a job that I truly love… everyday!
