Rubi
Hola! My Name Is...

Rubi Ramos-Carter

I wear two different hats with the Spanish program...one as Spanish teacher grades K through 3rd and the other as Spanish Lab grades 7th and 8th. I am a native of Puerto Rico and, along with my husband and two girls, a transplant from the Washington D.C, area. I am very honored and proud to be a part of the CSD family of staff, students and parents. In my time here in the Charlotte area I have been instructing students at local pre-schools, day-cares and libraries in Spanish language, dance and culture.

Although the basic fundamentals of grammar, reading and retention are my top priorities within all grade levels I do approach each with respect to previous exposure to Spanish instruction and appropriate skill set.

Elementary

First exposure to the K-3rd are general words in our everyday life. We focus on the alphabet, colors, days of the week, greetings, weather, seasons and basic adjectives. Reading, grammar and conversation consume our class time in our 2nd and 3rd grades. The use of visual arts, which include story boards and drawings, keep the attention of young students and make learning fun and easy. Music and dancing are also part of our curriculum where we introduce culture and application.

Middle

Reading aloud and grammar are crucial parts of Spanish at the 7th and 8th grade levels. Students, who can now identify sight words, begin to see and hear them together and are on the road to conversational Spanish! Continued use of visual displays, both paper and electronic, are incorporated both individually and as a group.
